The course instructor is Kia Orion, an artist, music producer, and founder of the educational platform Beat School. He has over ten years of experience in mixing, recording, and writing music for rap and hip-hop artists. The course consists of 9 lessons with a total duration of 32 minutes, is designed for beginners, and is available on the Skillshare platform.

Have you ever wondered how artists like T-Pain, A$AP Rocky, or Future achieve such a unique, memorable vocal sound? The secret lies in the skillful use of effects. Auto-Tune is the industry standard for vocal correction, but it can be used not only to "fix" notes but also as a powerful creative tool. In this course, you will master professional vocal processing techniques: from basic Auto-Tune setup to creating creative pitch effects in the style of modern hits.

During the learning process, you will understand the principles of how Auto-Tune works and learn to avoid common mistakes when using it. You will learn how to properly adjust retune speed to match the tempo and style of your composition, and master methods for determining the key and scale of a track for precise vocal correction. The course will explain the differences between input types (low male, alto, tenor, soprano) and their impact on the processing algorithm, as well as teach you how to configure processing styles: hard/soft effects, legato-for a natural or robotic sound.

You will learn vocal pitching techniques to create effects in the style of A$AP Rocky (deep voice) or Kanye West ("chipmunk" sound), and get acquainted with using the Soundtoys Little AlterBoy plugin for advanced pitching. The course also covers a free method for pitching vocals directly in Ableton Live without third-party plugins. You will learn to automate parameters for dynamic, expressive transitions and understand how to make informed decisions when choosing plugins and effects.

This course is ideal for beginner sound engineers who want to master professional vocal mixing, beatmakers and producers looking to expand their skills and improve track quality, as well as artists and vocalists who want to independently control their vocal sound and experiment with effects.

To work with this course, you will need the following tools and software: Antares Auto-Tune EFX+, Soundtoys Little AlterBoy, Ableton Live (built-in pitching tools), and the free Key Finder app for determining tonality.

The philosophy of the course is built on the "Do it yourself" principle: no one will take care of your music the way you do. Kia Orion provides not just technical instructions but a mindset system that helps you develop your own sound. There is no single correct way here-there is your way. The main ingredients are practice, experimentation, and persistence.

As bonuses, you will receive a free Ableton Live template used in the course (available on the instructor's website), as well as access to additional resources: drum kits, samples, guides, and other courses on music production.

"I don't promise that after this course you will sound like T-Pain. But I will teach you the fundamentals so you can take one more step toward your goal," says Kia Orion. Ready to take your vocals to the next level? Record your track, fire up Ableton-and let's go, toward professional sound! 🎤✨
